2018 Buckworth Shield

The Buckworth Shield was played at Woy Woy on Monday 16th April, as they won the Shield in 2017. The Buckworth Shield is contested by the four Clubs on the Peninsula, Woy Woy, Umina, Everglades, and Ettalong Memorial. On arriving at Woy Woy, the girls had a nice morning tea, which included delicious home cakes. It was then out to the Green, each Club vying to win the much coverted Buckworth Shield. The format was three games of ten Ends. In the first game against Woy Woy, our girls went down by 5 shots. The second game was against Umina Beach, and after a great start our girls succumbed to the pressure, again going down by 5 shots. A BBQ lunch was served after the first two games, it was then back to the Green for the last game, which was against Everglades. Everglades won this encounter comfortably. The winners were announced. Everglades 1st, Umina Beach 2nd, Woy Woy 3rd, and Ettalong Memorial 4th. President Di Elsom presented the Buckworth Shield to Everglades. Ettalong President Elaine Mellross spoke, thanking Woy Woy for hosting the day, and congratulating the winners. Ettalong are very proud of our players, who gave their all, it just wasn't to be on the day.
